1. Why should I open an account with Botsjobs.com?

When you register with Botsjobs.com you will be able to apply for jobs online and access career advice at your convenience.

2. What functionality does Botsjobs.com offer?

Botsjobs.com allows you to:

• Create an online CV indicating your education, experience and qualities.
• Edit your CV to fit specific jobs you are applying for.
• Manage the job application process.
• Let employers contact you when your CV is ‘visible’
• Apply online to job adverts
• Read career advice on how to apply for jobs, manage your career, and ace interviews.

3. How do I create a CV online?

When you register, you will have to build an online eCV. Your CV includes personal details, education information and work experience. You can also enter information about your competencies, indicate whether your employed or unemployed, and select whether to make your CV visible or hidden from employers.

Always select ‘Update My CV’ when you are done updating your CV.

You cannot post a word or pdf CV. The online CV builder allows employers to search for specific criteria on your CV.

4. How do I edit my CV?

To edit your CV select ‘Manage My CV’ when you are logged in. You can edit your CV at any time.

5. Can I have a printable version of my CV?

If you wish to print a copy of your Online CV select ‘View CV’ and then select ‘Print CV’. This should open a printable version of your CV in a new window. If pop-ups are blocked on your browser, please select the option to allow pop-ups for Botsjobs.com when prompted by your browser. 

6. Why should I make my CV visible?

When your CV is not visible, you will be able to search for jobs and apply for jobs, but recruiters will not be able to search or view your CV. Your CV will only become available to recruiters when you apply for a job. In order to change your CV between ‘visible’ and ‘not visible’, please select ‘Manage My CV’. The option to make your CV visible is towards the bottom of the page.

7. How do I search for a job?

Go to the search page. You can search for jobs by writing keywords that fit that type of job you are looking for. If a keyword search does not yield any jobs then you can view all available jobs by selecting the ‘view all jobs’ option.

8. What are keywords and what is the best way to use them?

Keywords are specific phrases or words that are used to search for a job. When you enter keywords, Botsjobs.com returns results for jobs that feature those keywords.

To refine your keyword search, use phrases or combinations of words. For example, if you are looking for a sales job in the telecommunications sector, type in both sales and telecommunications. This will return results that better meet your requirements.  The keyword field is not case sensitive.

9. How do I get more information about a job posting?

To view more information about a job select ‘view more’ to view the job profile.

10. How do I apply for a job?

To apply for a job, click on the link to ‘view more’. You will see a job profile. At the bottom of the job there will be instructions on how to apply for a job. You will have to complete a cover letter.

Please ensure that have edited your CV to suit the job before you complete your cover letter. You can edit your CV under ‘Manage My CV’ when you are logged in.

11. What do I do if my search for job does not yield results?

There are currently no jobs that meet the keywords you have entered. To see a list of all available jobs, please select “list ALL JOBS” on the search page.

12. How do I know if a company has received my application?

When you submit an application you will receive a pop-up to confirm your application has been submitted. The Status Panel on the right side of ‘My Home Page’ will also indicate all jobs that you have applied for.

13. How do I know if I have been short-listed?

When a company shortlists you, you will receive an email indicating that you have been short-listed. You will also be able to view all jobs that you have been short-listed for in the Status Panel on the right side of ‘My Home Page’.

14. How do I know if I have been invited for an interview?

If a company would like to interview you, they will consult with you to set up an interview time. You will receive an email confirming the time, place, date, and contact person. You will also see an interview appointment in the Status Panel on the right side of ‘Home Page’.

Passwords and Confidentiality

15. What do I do if I forget my password?

If you forget your password, then click on the ‘Forgot Your Password?’ link. Then enter your email address. Botsjobs.com will send your password to your email account.

16. How do I change my details?

If you wish to change your password, username, name or contact email address please select ‘Change My Details’ when you are logged in.

17. What if I change my email address?

You must ensure you change your email address under ‘Change My Details’ or you could miss important updates and alerts.

18. What level of confidentiality will I have?

Botsjobs.com adheres to the strictest privacy standards. Botsjobs.com does not pass your individual information without your consent to third parties. Botsjobs.com will also not allow your CV to be viewed by companies unless you make it visible or apply for a job. Companies not registered on Botsjobs.com do no have access to your CV.

19. Can I tell which companies have viewed my CV?

Unfortunately, Botsjobs.com does not alert you to which companies have viewed your CV if it is ‘visible’. From time to time companies will search Botsjobs.com for suitable candidates, and if you meet your requirements they may contact you.

20. Can foreigners use Botsjobs.com?

Botsjobs.com is open to anybody who seeks employment in Botswana. If you are a foreigner, please note that your company in Botswana will have to arrange a work permit specific to the job you have been hired for.

EMPLOYERS

1. Is it easy to post a job on Botsjobs.com?

Posting a job on Botsjobs.com is a simple process. Under Manage Postings go to the “Add New” button.

2. What is the process?

When you select “Add New” you are taken to a page entitled “Insert Job”. Complete all the fields. You may include as much information as you necessary under “Description”.  When you are done select “Insert”. The job will become

3. How do I use the “Description” Panel?

The Description Panel allows you to edit the job description to fit in as much information as necessary. You can format the font (bold, italicize, etc). You can also add paragraphs. In addition, you can access a full screen view by selecting the button labeled ‘Toggle Full Screen View”. To return to the “Insert Job” screen from full screen view of the Description Panel, just select “Toggle Full Screen View” again.

It is advisable to have a comprehensive description. Usually candidates will need over 200 characters to appreciate the nature and demands of the job.

4. Will I get large volumes of irrelevant CVs?

The volume of CVs you receive depends on the specific job you have advertised. To help you eliminate unsuitable candidates, Botsjobs.com offers a filtering system that allows you to quickly remove applicants who do not have sufficient qualifications or work experience. You can also filter by nationality and employment status of the individual.  

5. How do I search thousands of CVs to get the right candidate?

To search through the available CVs, you can go to “CV Search”. You can search for suitable candidates by using one or more of the available options. These include first name, last name, qualifications, pass rate, experience, keyword, and industry. For example you might be able to search for
            “an MBA graduate” with “5 years experience” in the “telecommunications industry”

6. What guarantee of a response do I have?

To improve the probability of a response, ensure that the advert is clear. Use simple headings for “Job Title” and provide an informative and clear “Job Description”.

Botsjobs.com does not guarantee companies that they will receive qualified responses to their job postings. In some instances, there might be insufficient registered users who possess the specific qualifies and qualifications sought by the employer.

7. What is a saved CV search?

Companies can save CV searches. When you are searching for CVs under “CV Search” you can save them. You can access saved CVs by clicking the link for Saved CVs in your Quick Stats panel.

11. Are you having difficulty logging in?

You should check the following

• You should verify that you are indeed typing in the correct “Username” and the correct “Password”
• Ensure that the CAPS LOCK is off as Usernames and Passwords are case sensitive
